Ashlyn Kruger (123 WTA ranking) won the WTA tournament in Osaka (Japan) on Sunday, the 19-year-old American became the main favorite of the “250” competition in the last action.

Kruger beat China’s Lin Zhu (WTA 35 and top seed) 6-3, 7-6(6). The final lasted one hour and 38 minutes.

This is the first WTA title in the career of a 19-year-old American.

The WTA Osaka tournament was held from September 11 to 17 on hard, was part of the WTA 250 category and had a total prize pool of $259,303. The competition was last held in 2019 (before the Covid-19 pandemic), and then Nao Hibino became the champion.
