The match between Romania and Kosovo (a qualifier for EURO 2024) was interrupted for almost an hour after the group “One under the tricolor” raised the banner “Kosovo is Serbia” and chanted this slogan. After the victory of the “tricolors” (2:0), the Football Federation of Romania “strongly condemned the irresponsible behavior” of these spectators.

The FRF condemns the behavior of the “hooligans” at the match with Kosovo in the preliminary round of EURO 2024: “Revisionism is not accepted in football”

“The victory over Kosovo was inspired by the fans of the national team, despite the hooligans!

The Romanian Football Federation has strongly denied the irresponsible behavior of a group of spectators from the South Lawn which led to the interruption of yesterday’s match between Romania and Kosovo at the National Arena. First of all, we reiterate the principle according to which football is governed in Romania, namely the non-interference of politics in sporting activities.

Revisionism is unacceptable in football, and the FRF strongly condemns provocative messages of a political, ideological, religious or offensive nature, which are strictly prohibited in stadiums.

All this was recorded in the stands of the “National Arena” by a small group of so-called fans, which affected the normal course of the match and, implicitly, the state of mind of the “tricolors”. The rest of the spectators in the stadium objected to the hooliganism, depriving them of the football show they wanted and paid for.

“The FRF regrets the unpleasant experience that most of the spectators had, and at the same time thanks them for the fantastic support they gave the tricolors in the second half of the match, leading them to a dramatic victory,” the Romanian Football Federation said in a press release.
