Having been eliminated in the first round of the US Open, the Romanian played the first match of the tournament in Slovenia.

Despite Miriam’s good start, qualifier Lahey controlled the first set.

The Bulgarian came back in the second set, eventually winning three straight games, and took the match to the decider, where he also this time came back from 4-3 down in favor of Lahey and secured his place in the next round.

The match lasted two hours and 36 minutes.

In the 1/8 finals, Miriam Bulgaru will meet the winner between the Slovenian Kaya Juvan (106 WTA) and the Czech Gabriela Knutson.
