Eliminated by Karolina Mukhova, Sorana Kirstea returned to the country this Monday and addressed, among other things, the situation that Simona Halep is going through.

The former world number one was heard by the Sport Resolutions tribunal at the end of June and has since been awaiting a verdict in the US Open doping scandal.

“It was never a goal and especially the situation in which it happened is not pleasant. Simona can’t play. I never thought of becoming the first Romanian, especially since we play at the international level. It wasn’t a goal, but I’m glad I can help Romanian tennis, even if it’s a good result. (…)

Everything that is happening is not normal, otherwise Simona would be here. No one considers this delay normal and no one can understand what is happening with her case. It’s okay, we’re in this sport together.

It is not normal for the trial and judgment to take so long. This waiting is extremely difficult, I don’t even want to put myself in her place. I sincerely hope that this will be resolved soon.” – said Sorana Kirstea, as.ro reports.
