It is an event that is on its way to becoming impossible in France, if anything, much more so than the World Cup in Paris. Indeed, for this new edition, which will run parallel to the Équip Auto Show (dedicated to professionals) from September 28 to October 2, the organization has already announced the presence of 50 car brands.
Unlike the Paris Motor Show, the Lyon Motor Show is packed and the list of exhibitors is enough to make people jealous, since almost all groups and all exhibitors are present. Certain brands, usually absent from such events for several years, will also make the trip, such as Ford, Nissan, Tesla (with the new Model 3) or Volvo.
The strength of the Lyon Motor Show also lies in its proximity, as most manufacturers are also present through their local distribution networks. It’s also a way for certain manufacturers to make a statement, such as China’s BYD and Aiways, who will be there, while MG will be present this year as well.
Good news, all French brands (Alpine, Citroën, DS, Peugeot, Renault), also all German manufacturers (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Opel, Volkswagen) and Asian (Kia, Hyundai, Suzuki, Toyota). There will also be a space dedicated to luxury brands, bringing together Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini and McLaren.
As for the missing, there aren’t many other than Jaguar Land Rover and Bugatti. This show is a marketing as well as a commercial event, if the manufacturers have no or few cars to sell, the Lyon Motor Show really only has a more limited interest.
