The national road infrastructure management company says that four days after it appeared on social media – and three days after it appeared in the press – a film showing someone easily removing bolts from the parapets of the completed Danube bridge in Brail. their screening process, indicating that about 0.4% were weak.

• “Today, the process of checking all screws of the safety parapet on the suspension bridge across the Danube from Breila (track 1 and track 2) was completed.
• Out of a total of 100,000 screws, 401 were loosened, which represents approximately 0.4% of the total number of these elements,” CNAIR said in a Facebook post.

As a reminder, images circulated on social media this week showing someone easily manually removing screws that appear to be loose on the parapets of the Brail Bridge over the Danube. In the video, the cameraman shows how he unscrews several screws one by one, which, it seems, are not tightened at all. In response, CNAIR says that these problems are the fault of the developer, but they do not affect the safety of the bridge. At the same time, TsNAIR reminds that the Bridge has not yet been received.

On Friday, Transport Minister Sorin Grindeanu said more than 50,000 of the approximately 100,000 screws on the Braila Bridge had been checked and that 180 screws had been found to be improperly tightened.

• “(…) I assure the Romanians that there is no danger of the bridge falling, part of it falling into the Danube.
• I saw that there are also political formations that claim to belong to Brussels. If they are afraid to cross the bridge, they can also take the ferry if they reach Braila.
• Moving on to a serious record, I assure you that there are no problems with traffic safety. This is an investment that started in 2017. It just so happened that in six months, financing was secured, and the first steps for this investment were taken.
• I don’t understand this desire of some to highlight only the bad, only that nothing good can happen in Romania. From 2017 until now, there have been several ministers, prime ministers, I invited all of them, except for one, only one did not come to see me. He probably had no reason to come because he didn’t do anything about it. Otherwise, everyone, regardless of political color,” Grindyanu said.

He also mentioned again the unevenness that appeared on the asphalt on Braille Bridge, also stating that there is no danger:

• “Thirdly, I also saw 3 weeks ago, when I had a meeting with the State Department, with the US Embassy in Galata, and I saw that there was news that there would be irregularities and there was a risk of getting into the Danube.
• While in Galata, I crossed the bridge. It is true that during these weeks CNAIR restricted traffic. When temperatures are high, traffic restrictions apply everywhere, not only in Romania. As some gentlemen did not observe these restrictions, they were fined. Work and its responsibility of the builder. If they do the work incorrectly, they will pay. There is no danger.

TsNAIR: “There is no danger to the bridge structure”

“There is no danger to the bridge structure. Untightened screws are on the parapet,” CNAIR spokesman Alin Sherbenescu told HotNews.ro on Wednesday.

“There is no risk of the car jumping into the Danube, because after the parapet, which is installed at the edge of one of the carriageways, there is an intervention sidewalk, 3 meters wide, and another edge parapet,” said the CNAIR representative.

He reminds that “The bridge has not yet been received, so it is still under the ownership and responsibility of the contractor (Webuild).”

“By the time of acceptance, the developer must eliminate all inconsistencies, including tightening all screws of parapets. Yesterday I asked Webbuild to check the screws again and today they got down to business. I tighten the loose screws and complete the missing ones.
