Ramzan Kadyrov has led the Russian republic since 2007 and is a close ally of Putin, supporting him from the early days of the war in Ukraine and even sending his three teenage sons to fight.

In a post on Russian social network VK, he said he was “amused” by predictions that he would meet a “quick death” and that he would “never tire” of saying he was loyal to his “motherland”. According to Sky News.

“Today I was amused by the thoughts of “unfinished political scientists” who insult Russia in foreign publications, who predict my quick death,” he wrote.

Kadyrov has said he would like to die for Putin, but admits he could “suddenly” lose his life if a more loyal follower appears.

The Chechen leader is known as a brutal leader who has led violent purges against homosexuals and is linked to allegations of human rights abuses.

The Kadyrovtsi, a Chechen paramilitary group named after his father, fought in Ukraine.

Apart from some criticism of Moscow’s withdrawal from Kherson, Kadyrov strongly supported the invasion and Putin’s approach.
