​2016 US Open winner (after the final against Novak Djokovic) Stanislas Wawrinka delighted his fans on Wednesday night with a brilliant performance of his brilliant backhand. At the age of 38, Stanimal qualified for the second round at Flushing Meadows.

On the podium, Wawrinka (49 ATP) defeated Yoshihito Nishioka (world number 44) in three sets, and the Swiss advanced to the second round of the US Open.

It was 7-6(5), 6-2, 6-4 for someone who has won three Grand Slam titles in his career (Australian Open 2014, Roland Garros 2015 and US Open 2016). The match lasted two hours and 25 minutes.

In the second round, the Swiss will meet Thomas Martin Etcheverry (Argentina – favorite 30).

To the delight of the fans in the stands, Stan had some great moments and his backhand recalled his memorable career matches against such titans as Djokovic, Nadal and Federer.
