Former world number two Paula Bados was forced to withdraw from the US Open and end her 2023 season due to back problems.
Paula Badosa will no longer play tennis in 2023
Having not played a match since Wimbledon (she was eliminated by Marta Kostiuk in the second round), Badosa explained on Instagram that she will not be able to play again this year.
“Hi everyone, just wanted to let you know about my injury….
After many months of fighting to play again, I am ending my season. Those of you who know me know how much I love being on the pitch and how hard it was for me to make this decision. I’ve tried everything with my team, but the pain won’t let me go any further.
I thank the people who are still with me in these difficult times. See you next year, stronger than ever” – Paula Bados on Instagram.
Having reached the 46th place in the WTA hierarchy, Paula was supposed to meet Venus Williams (407 WTA) in the first round of the American Grand Slam.
US Open 2023 will be held from August 28 to September 10, and the most important matches from Flushing Meadows will be on HotNews.ro every day. Titled champions – Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Svyatek.
