The mayor of Crevedia, Petre Florin, claims that the place where the explosion and fire occurred was more likely a liquefied gas warehouse, after the sale of fuel to citizens was suspended by the Emergency Situations Inspectorate. “They were no longer allowed to sell in bottles to citizens, and tankers were sunk there,” he explains.

Crevedia Mayor Petre Florin said Saturday evening on Digi 24 that there was not much that emergency crews could do as the area was still burning, News.ro noted.
“The cistern was taken out, there are two more in the room that are about to collapse. The situation is very serious. We have several casualties, they have been carried out on stretchers, the SMURD helicopter is also here. We are waiting for the intervention of firefighters. The flames go to the houses. We hope for liquidation as soon as possible,” he said.
The mayor explained that there was more of a liquefied gas warehouse there: “When I came to the city hall, this place was suspended by the GIP, it no longer has the right to sell fuel to citizens. But the tanker was moving, they were loading, they know what they were doing. Those from ISU were on control 2-3 times, but I have no more information. Citizens were no longer allowed to sell in bottles, and tankers were sunk there.”
He provided some information about the victims.
“One of the victims will go in the SMURD helicopter, I understand they can’t find the two workers who were there. It is not yet known whether they were at work today. Those who were taken out of there, you cannot talk to them, they are on a stretcher,” the mayor said.
A strong explosion occurred on Saturday at a gas station in the town of Krevedia, Dambovitsa County, followed by a fire. According to the first information, eight people were injured with serious burns. After the explosion, traffic on DN 1A was completely blocked.
