After a visit to Floreasca Emergency Hospital in the capital, where several patients are being treated with burns after the explosions in Crevedia, Prime Minister Marcel Çolaku, accompanied by Interior Minister Catalin Predoi, said authorities were focusing on saving as many lives as possible.

“Right now we are focused on saving as many lives as possible. The European mechanism is working, not a single patient has left yet,” Čolaku noted.

However, when he was asked about the son of Mayor Caracal (PSD member), who owns the gas station where the fire occurred, the prime minister became irritated: “We are talking about saving lives, and you are asking me about it. ..”

For his part, the Minister of the Interior, Katelin Predoiu, avoided an answer about the lack of beds for major burns in the country’s hospitals. “I am in charge of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and I can tell you that absolutely all procedures have been launched and everyone is on duty,” he said.

When asked how he assessed the intervention of the Department of Emergency Situations, a structure subordinate to the MAI, Predoyu replied that: “Everyone was at the station, starting with the head of the DSU (Raed Arafat), the commander of the action – according to the legal procedures – and I think , that what was demonstrated on the ground was visible to the naked eye.”

At the same time, when asked about the needs of firefighters and intervention teams in such situations, Predoyu stated that “they didn’t tell us that they needed something, they told us that they had everything they needed.”
