“Tonight Romania was rocked by a new tragedy and I am deeply saddened by the casualties caused by the explosions in Crevedia,” said Klaus Iohannis, the president of Romania, after the explosions and fire in Crevedia left at least one dead and dozens injured wounded
“I express my condolences to the families of the victims and wish the victims a speedy recovery. Currently, zero priority is to provide victims with all the support they need and facilitate their access to emergency care,” said Yohannis.
“As soon as the situation in the risk zone stabilizes, an investigation should be promptly started to see if the law and regulations have been violated. I ask the authorities to take immediate measures for the victims so that the tragedies of the past do not repeat themselves,” said the country’s president.
Several powerful explosions occurred on Saturday at a gas station in the town of Krevedia, Dambovitsa County, followed by a fire. Several people were injured with severe burns, and at least one person died. The population in the area was evacuated, and traffic on DN 1A was completely blocked.
