Botoshani District Council announces that Mavromati District Emergency Hospital maternity ward will be rehabilitated and modernized as part of a PNRR-funded project. CJ clarifies that the inappropriate works in the project are the work on the redevelopment and modernization of the IV and V floors, as well as the changing rooms in the basement, which are undertaken by the institution. The announcement comes after some images emerged of medical staff changing rooms in poor conditions, with worn-out furniture, crumbling walls and mould. The birth came into the public eye after a young pregnant woman died in the medical ward after seven hours without medical attention.

According to a press release sent on Saturday by the Botošani District Council, cited by News.ro, the building of the External Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Mavromati District Emergency Hospital is the subject of an energy rehabilitation project, reconstruction and modernization of IV and IV floors V, changing rooms in the basement and dismantling the attic and installing photovoltaic panels. The PNRR financing agreement for this project was signed on December 19, 2022.

“In partnership, the county council and the Mavromati hospital submitted a project for the reconstruction and modernization of the maternity wards to the PNRR. The funding has been received, the documentation for the approval of the intervention has already been completed and the technical design phase has been completed,” said Doina Federovici, president of Botosani District Council, as quoted in the press release.

After the implementation of DALI, the eligible value of the investment to be made in the Botosani Maternity Hospital is €4,769,951.69 and the non-eligible cost of the works determined by the Botosani County Council is €491,922.46. Redevelopment and modernization works on the IV and V floors, as well as changing rooms in the basement, are inadmissible. The project will see the construction of four charging stations funded by the PNRR and one funded by Botoshani District Council.

“Upgrading Botoshani’s sanitation system has always been a focus of Botoshani District Council. From year to year, significant investments were made in the modernization of the buildings of the district hospital, equipping them with the most modern equipment. Unfortunately, the individual irresponsible behavior of some health workers casts a shadow over these efforts made over the last three years by the Botoshani District Council. If the human share depends on each individual person, on the level of empathy that each of us has, we, as the administration, will do everything possible to develop the material base of the hospital, as we have done in recent years,” concluded Doina Federovychi. .

The press release came after Digi 24 presented images from the nurses’ and doctors’ changing room installed in the basement of the maternity hospital, where the walls are crumbling, full of mold and mildew, and the furniture is damaged.
