US President Joe Biden discussed with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday the US training of Ukrainian pilots to fly F-16 fighter jets, which will begin in September, the White House said, according to AFP.
“Presidents Biden and Zelenskyi discussed the beginning of training Ukrainian fighter pilots and ensuring quick approval for other countries to transfer F-16 aircraft to Ukraine after the training is completed,” the US executive said in a statement.
Starting in September, Ukrainian pilots will be trained in the US on the F-16 fighter model, the Pentagon announced on Thursday.
“These pilots will take an English language course” in Texas in September and then “undertake pilot training” in Arizona, in the southwestern United States, next month, Pentagon spokesman Gen. Pat Ryder said.
Recently, Norway announced that it would become the third country after the Netherlands and Denmark to supply Ukraine with an aircraft of this type of American development. (Agerpress)
