We Romanians have a saying: Trouble never comes alone. This is also the case of Elena. A mother from Pyatra Neamts who was severely tested by fate.

“I first saw my child on the verge of death, immobilized in bed, then I received the verdict: cancer. I still remember the face on the business card. She looked me in the eyes and answered like this: cancer is cancer. , it is neither good nor bad. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing… I couldn’t believe this was happening to me. Especially after three years of yet another tragedy. My child fell from a scaffolding, from a height of 14 meters, when he was building an industrial workshop in Deja. I stayed with him in hospitals for months, he underwent at least 8 operations. He was immobilized in bed for some time. Now he can move on his own, but only for short distances. The day I changed one drama to another, I cried, cried, trying to understand why God let me carry such a burden again.”Olena confessed to us in a trembling voice.

Thus the mother universe was again shaken from its foundations. Although she was encouraged by doctors who explained to her that there was currently a cure for the disease she was suffering from, laboratory tests showed worse.

“I started chemotherapy urgently. I am traveling from Piatra Neamt to Bucharest. I have to leave at 12 in the evening to arrive at the hospital at 7 for treatment. It is very difficult and the symptoms after chemotherapy are terrible. I can’t describe The only thing what keeps me going is my son’s face, his encouragement and the care I see in his eyes. I have to show him how strong I am!”

In addition to emotional difficulties, Elena has to deal with financial ones as well. After several sessions of chemotherapy, Elena has to undergo an operation to remove both breasts. The intervention will be performed at the Memorial Hospital in Bucharest. The required amount of 15,000 euros is an additional burden for Elena.

“The thought that there is no money and you can’t look for yourself made me fail more than once. If in recent years I was the one who encouraged him not to give up, to take one more step with the metal frame and one more, Now my son supports me morally. The roles are reversed, he’s encouraging me to keep fighting and I’m not going to let him down.”

“15,000 euros. This sum is Elena’s chance to be with my son again, to see his smile every day. Any amount that is transferred to the accounts of the “Save the Heart” Association brings it closer to healing, to the future who wants to have it with his family and all his loved ones. Cancer does not necessarily have to be an epilogue, it can only remain a sad memory. It is also up to us to change the story of Elena’s life. Donate too!” – Vlad Plasinte, president of the “Save the Heart” Association.
