A metal box containing human-like bones was found on Wednesday in the attic of a church in Tirgu Jiu. Early evidence shows that the bones appear to be very old and exhumed. Police have launched an investigation to determine how the skeleton fragments ended up on the temple bridge, News.ro reports.

The discovery was made on Wednesday during repair work on the church bridge in Tirgu Jiu Municipality.

“On August 23, police officers of the Criminal Investigation Service were informed that a metal box containing several fragments of human-like bones was found in the attic of a church in Tirgu Jiu municipality. . The law enforcement officers, who went to the scene, removed several bone fragments of different sizes, as well as two skull fragments, similar to human, to determine the age and possible traumatic injuries, an anthropological examination will be scheduled,” – informs the Gorzh District Police.

Forensic sources told News.ro that the bone fragments appear to be very old and partially covered with earth. There was a cemetery on the territory where the religious building is located.

According to the received report, the police are conducting investigative actions aimed at establishing the facts of the criminal proceedings based on the fact of intentional murder.
