The bear, spotted in several places in Ploiesti, which the local authorities were looking for for almost a month, was caught and relocated, the mayor’s office reports.

“On Monday, August 21, 2023, around 5:45, an intervention group led by the mayor of Ploiesti, Andrej Liviu Volosevici, managed to capture a specimen of a bear whose presence was recently registered in the radius of our city,” he said on Facebook of the mayor’s office.

In recent weeks, the presence of a bear has been reported several times in various streets of Ploiesti, but so far the local authorities have not found the bear. Ploiesti City Hall announced last Wednesday “stationary observation points and patrols” in areas where the bear was reported, the installation of three CCTV cameras and “drone monitoring twice a day”.

Now he was caught after calling 112: “it was reported about the presence of a bear on the territory of the Lukoil oil refinery in Ploiesti. Upon receiving the call, a specially formed team urgently intervened and began to calm the animal down. We note that during the entire period of the intervention the bear was not harmed, the specimen will be immediately relocated to an environment suitable for it in the Tabla Butiy district, Prahov.

Further; Ploiesti City Hall announced that the bear had already been relocated and published new images of the animal.

The mayor of Ploiesti believes that there may be another animal in the area, so he ordered to maintain surveillance in the area of ​​the Vega refinery.

“The one caught has white fur on his neck, and judging by the footage that was available, it seems that this is the bear that was seen in Remat, Mihai Bravo. Let’s see. We maintain surveillance measures in the area of ​​Vega,” said Volosevychi.
