Several years have passed since the introduction of the system of environmental bonuses/fines. The goal? Financially reward drivers who choose an electric car, while those who buy a car considered to be polluting must pay an additional tax. If it was perfectly reasonable until then, the government kept increasing the amount over the years. Today, the scope is stricter than ever and, above all, limited to €50,000. Obviously, a very high amount, which nevertheless remains limited 50% of the total cost car But it still needs to develop.

Missed penalty

Indeed, from next year the government wants to reform the environmental penalty again to make it even more severe. Thus, the latter should in particular to be disclosed. Which specifically means that there will be no more restrictions. Thus, in some cases, a car that pollutes the environment a lot can pay a fine of 100,000 euros. Anyway, that’s what we can imagine, even if nothing has been confirmed yet at this point. Company vehicles can now also be affected, although this is not the case at the moment. This can change the situation for the worse, particularly for utilities.

A more severe weight penalty

But that’s not all. Indeed, the weight penalty may also change for thermal cars. By the way, the latter punishes cars that exceed the bar of 1800 kg with an additional tax. Then the drivers have to pay 10 euros per kilogram additional. This single fine could be reduced to 1.6 tons, which is very little. But this measure will not affect electricity and hybrids.
