
The Acura ZDX is the first all-electric vehicle from the premium Japanese automaker, which is sort of Honda’s North American subsidiary. This SUV was presented in the middle of supercars on the occasion of Monterey Car Week.
It’s based on the General Motors Ultium platform shared by the Chevrolet Blazer and features a large battery 102 kW/h.
The new Acura ZDX, as its name suggests, can be charged with direct current The maximum power is 109 kWa value that allows it to “restore” about 130 km of range in just 10 minutes.
Up to 500 hp and a range of 525 km
Two versions are available: one with a motor 340 hp and autonomy 525 km with one charge. Another version under the Type S brand is equipped with two powerful engines 500 hp and autonomy 463 km.
One of the “amazing” features of this new SUV is the weight distribution. Indeed, the manufacturer promises an “almost” perfect 50/50 balance, with special improvements for the Type S version. This model gets adjustable air suspension with adaptive dampers or even Brembo brakes with six-piston yellow calipers for the front wheels. .
Aesthetically, the new Acura ZDX has a “traditional” SUV shape with a gloss black roof, 20- or 22-inch wheels depending on trim, and a front bumper inspired by the Acura Precision concept introduced last year. At the front, the Diamond Pentagon grille accentuates the front end with a 3D diamond pattern with an embossed light contour, which in turn is surrounded by new ‘Jewel Eye’ headlamps.
Google invites itself into this electric SUV
As for the interior, the entire Acura ZDX cabin has been designed with the driver in mind: a large 11-inch digital instrument cluster is accompanied by an 11.3-inch central touchscreen with interface from Google.
In general, we find the entire universe of Google Automotive with Google Assistant or even some functions specific to electric cars. These include, for example, instant battery pre-conditioning when you enter a DC fast charging station as a destination.
Standard on all ZDX models are front and rear automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with steering assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Type S version adds Level 2+ autonomous control to these devices.
The Acura ZDX will go into production next year, with deliveries expected in late 2024. As for pricing, in America the base version will start at around €55,200 and the Type S will start at around €64,300. It is not yet known if this model will ever come to Europe, but if it does, then it will do so under the Honda badge, as Acura does not distribute on the Old Continent.
