Judges from Suceava have scheduled the first court hearing in a civil trial in a year and a half. It is a lawsuit against a child who suffered paresis after an injection by a pediatrician, News.ro notes.

A family from Gura-Humorului filed a civil lawsuit after their son was left paralyzed after an injection given to him by a pediatrician in 2019, local newspaper Monitorul de Suceava reported.

The case was also investigated by the prosecutor’s office, but the criminal case was closed.

At the end of July, the family was informed that the first term of the magistrates of the Suchav court was set for December 5, 2024.

The plaintiffs’ lawyer, Cristi Rusu, told Monitorul de Suceava that he checked the date of the first term again and it is December 5, 2024, because of the very large number of cases and the small number of magistrates.

“We will submit a request to change the term, we will explain that this is a special situation, a child who has suffered and is suffering, who needs moral compensation. We hope to get a reasonable deadline to start this process,” said attorney Christy Rusu.

In 2019, the parents brought the child, who was then one year and three months old, to the pediatrician with a high temperature and vomiting.

The pediatrician decided to inject metoclopramide, and after about an hour, the parents noticed that the boy could no longer move his right leg.
