In August-September 2023, the Ministry of Education will generalize the digitized evaluation of candidates’ works in the session of the external examination, the written tests of which begin on Wednesday.
In June – July 2022 and June – July 2023, in the sessions of the national bachelor’s exam, respectively, the national assessment for graduates of class VIII, the digital assessment of written works was piloted for candidates from the counties of Kalaras and Dymbovica.
According to the Ministry of Education, the decision to generalize digital assessment is based on the advantages confirmed in the pilot, among which we note the following:
- cancellation of costs for transportation of works from one district to another in view of the assessment;
- elimination of bureaucratic red tape (separate assessment letters, as well as final ones, are automatically generated after the assessment is completed);
- reduction of working time for assessment;
- transfer, automatically and randomly, to two other evaluators of documents for which the difference between the evaluations awarded by the two evaluators exceeds one point;
- reducing the risk of human error in: calculating the final grade, awarding points other than correction scale points, entering paper grades into the computer to display the results;
- the ability to perform a comprehensive analysis of exam results by item, category of students or schools in order to use the results of the assessment for the benefit of students.
Papers of candidates for the Fall 2023 BAC session will be scanned in the examination hall
Scanners distributed and installed in each examination center are used for digitized assessment. Papers are scanned in the examination room at the end of the written examination in the presence of the candidate and uploaded to the evaluation platform by assistant professors.
The confidentiality of the work is done automatically, at the time of upload, candidates/associates no longer need to do it.
The documents are then automatically and randomly distributed through the platform between two assessors located in a district different from the district from which the candidates come.
According to the Ministry of Education, the digital assessment process does not involve changes in criteria/grading scales and subject types for the written tests of the undergraduate examination.
“We want to digitize assessment for all national exams, whether it’s an undergraduate, national assessment, placement or final exam. This progress is not only necessary, as it simplifies everything that means the logistics of organizing these exams, but also natural, in the context of technological evolution,” said Minister of Education Ligia Deka.
