Gauff, the sixth seed in Montreal, was the player who dictated the pace: she was aggressive, hit the ball from a height, did not give her opponent time to react and gave up only three games in the match in just 62 minutes.

In the quarters, Gauff will face the fourth seed: compatriot and doubles partner Jessica Pegula.
