Finance Minister Marcel Bolosh, who on Thursday spoke to ministry employees who stopped work and protested, referred to a law on salaries in the budget sector, in which financiers will have a separate professional family. “Let me fight for your salaries because you earn more there,” the minister told them, according to News.ro.
The trade unions, concerned about the government’s spending cut order, asked not to cut their incomes.
Marcel Bolosh spoke on Thursday with employees of the ministry, who stopped work and protested.

It was about the resolution considered by the Government, as well as about the Law on wages in the budgetary sphere.
“There are two completely different problems: your salary and… I don’t want to get into these discussions because we haven’t finished them yet. These decisions are made at the coalition level, please ask the coalition,” the minister said, to which the ministry staff shouted.
“Let me fight for your wages because you earn more there,” Marcel Bolosh added.
“If we make this equalization of coefficients, salaries will increase from 15 to 25%. We have the foundation and the necessary funds for this. This is the first step,” the minister also said.
He clarified that as the Minister of Finance, he does not make decisions, but can only convey the claims of trade unionists to the coalition.
“I can listen to your claims and present the message of the ruling coalition. Here’s what I can do (…) I don’t understand where this concern comes from until this project is brought up for public discussion,” the minister also stated, and the financiers replied: “We will block the whole country, let’s do it.”
“Even if it is not official (the GEO project is not), colleagues know all its intricacies, which have been worked on here. Colleagues, the first thing I ask is not to cut their incomes, not their salaries, because our incomes consist of several components. Our salaries in the Ministry of Finance have not been raised for years,” said one of the employees, who was applauded by her colleagues.
“These things are not decided by the Minister of Finance, they are decisions made in the government coalition,” Bolosh added.
Dozens of employees of the Ministry of Public Finance interrupted work on Thursday and went to the halls of the institution to protest against some provisions of the draft Decree on fiscal and budgetary measures, as well as against some old problems regarding the payment of workers in the system.
Vasile Marika, president of the National Alliance of Budget Unions SED LEX, said that the protest was “not led by trade unions”. (News.ro)
