According to the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC), the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.2, and the depth at which it occurred was 11 kilometers, News.ro reports.

The Turkish Seismological Agency reports that the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.3 and the depth at which it occurred was 7 kilometers.

According to EMSC, the earthquake struck at 20:48 local time (also Romanian) and the epicenter was located 10 kilometers southwest of Malatya and 131 km northwest of Şanlıurfa.

According to Anadolu Agency, the earthquake on Thursday night was felt in Kahramanmaras, Adiyaman, Şanlıurfa and Gaziantep, as well as in Malatya. Many people immediately after the earthquake went out into the streets in fear.

A non-residential building collapsed in the Battalgazi district, a child who was passing by at that moment was injured and taken to the hospital. There are also cases where people jumped from the balcony out of fear, Malatya Governor Ersin Yazici said, as quoted by Anadolu.

On February 6, a 7.8-magnitude onshore earthquake struck Turkey, strongly affecting southeastern Turkey and northern Syria, killing more than 50,000 people.
