More than 15,000 employees of the structures of the Ministry of Finance from all over the country went on a spontaneous strike on Thursday, dissatisfied with the measures proposed by the government to reduce budget costs, as they will affect more than 22,000 people in the system. . According to union leaders, the measures will reduce wages by about 700 lei per worker, but also result in the loss of a number of positions and allowances.

We remind you that dozens of employees of the Ministry of Finance on Thursday spontaneously stopped work and went out into the corridors of the institution, dissatisfied with some provisions of the draft decree on fiscal and budgetary measures, as well as some older problems related to the salaries of system employees. Then the protest spread throughout the country, up to the treasurers.

  • “This is a form of spontaneous strike, which our colleagues have already adopted. This is beyond the control of the union. We wanted to start the same protest action on August 22, but in the meantime, our colleagues became even more angry and went out in spontaneous forms. Let’s see how the Government controls them. (…)
  • From what I know now, firsthand, at the national level, about 15,000 people took part in the protest,” said Vasile Marika, president of the National Federation of Trade Unions in Finance, at a spontaneous protest started by employees of the Ministry of Finance, reports Agerpres.

He emphasized that the measures proposed by the government will reduce the salary of an employee by approximately 700 lei, but will also result in the loss of a number of positions and allowances.

  • What are the salaries of protesters in Finance / 34 officials have salaries higher than the minister

According to the union leader, it is “definitely” that workers in the system will also protest nationally on Friday, being prepared to strike “as long as it takes”.

“Many people asked me: is 10,000 lei gross and 6,000 lei net a small amount of money? i say so”

  • “This is what they want to do: we combine the two positions of the head of the office, and the head decides who will remain. This cannot be done. We will definitely win in court, on the one hand, but on the other hand, what is happening is not normal, because apart from the fact that we do not have young staff, the fact that we have not hired workers since 2016, what we have there is no law to protect us when we go for inspection and I will give you an example.
  • I have been asked a lot: 10,000 lei gross is a small amount of money, but 6,000 lei net? I say yes. Because a tax inspector who goes to check in the OMV and argues with a lawyer who has 10 thousand, I say so.
  • Let it be very clear, if we do not professionalize this system, both the ministry, the prime minister, and the government must understand that if this system is not professionalized, it will not be digitized, there will never be money in the budget.” , argued Vasile Marika.

“We don’t understand what the governors want”

The union leader said that in recent discussions, Finance Minister Marcel Bolosh would have conveyed to him that all the demands of the unionists are justified, but also that he will take action because he knows that many people are leaving the system for higher wages, fine, but “for nothing happens for a month.”

  • “The problem is fundamentally different from how these people are treated. The fact that the politicians blame only us for the lack of revenue, given that they do the Fiscal Code, they pass laws, they force us to pass some kind of legislation, it is not our fault.
  • The protest action has nothing to do with food standards, vouchers. This is a systemic problem. For years, this system was not funded and did not advance, no career system, and now it comes and overturns the little that was built,” he added.

Regarding the solution of these problems, the leader of the Finance trade union emphasized that first of all it is necessary to find out what the governors want: First, we do not understand what the governors want. In order to have a solution, I have to know what they want. They want to save 700,000 lei in the budget, because some people are fired and that’s it?”.

According to the source, the merger and redistribution proposed by the Government will affect more than 22,000 employees of the structures of the Ministry of Finance.

The National Council of the National Federation of Financial Trade Unions was convened on Thursday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Finance. The trade unions demand the equalization of wages at the maximum level of wages and the introduction into the law on wages of the financial professional family with the corresponding salary scale.
