Thibaut Courtois was seriously injured in training and has to be operated on

Thibaut Courtois is one of the most important players in Real Madrid.

The Belgian has been in goal for Los Blancos since the summer of 2018 and now Madrid have been dealt a heavy blow after he suffered a serious injury in the team’s last training session.

According to a statement published on the club’s official Twitter account, Real Madrid announce that Thibaut Courtois has damaged the cruciate ligaments in his left knee and will undergo surgery.

This means that the 31-year-old goalkeeper is out for a long time, and Real Madrid will need a new goalkeeper.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that Los Blancos officials are already interested in signing a goalkeeper, with David De Gea, who has been out of contract since leaving Manchester United, appearing to be an available option.

The 32-year-old would be a perfect fit for Real Madrid, especially given that the Spaniard would come to the Santiago Bernabeu on a free transfer.

De Gea has received numerous offers from Saudi Arabia, but is also wanted by Bayern Munich, who are also in the market for a goalkeeper following Jann Sommer’s departure to Inter.
