Here is America in all its glory, but with “ecological” sauce. We’re not sure that’s an appropriate term for a model of this type, as it does everything in extremes, just like its thermal cousin.

So there you go Cadillac Escalade IQa sizable SUV that doesn’t do half-measures and will only be sold in the North American market starting next year.

Electric SUV of all classes

Built on General Motors’ Ultium platform, the Cadillac Escalade IQ takes the boxy form of the Thermal model with some important improvements. The engineers wanted to add a little more aerodynamic side to it by revising some of the curves. Overall, the Cx is down 15% compared to its combustion engine cousin. The Escalade IQ sits on huge 24-inch wheels and dimensions 5.70 meters.

The LED headlights are new and greet the driver with an animation when unlocking and locking the car. When you approach the SUV with the key in your pocket, the driver’s door opens automatically. To open all the doors at the same time, all you have to do is press the command on the key.

In the car or in the cinema?

On board, it’s even more impressive with a total screen area of 55 inches. The embedded system is based on the Snapdragon Cockpit Platform architecture developed by Qualcomm. We also find two 12.6-inch screens for the rear passengers, joined by an additional central screen to control the comfort settings of the second and third rows of seats.

A fixed glass roof and 126-colour lighting enhance the sense of space and luxury in the cabin, and for truly immersive sound there is an AKG Studio Reference hi-fi system with 40 speakers, some of which are integrated into the car’s headrests. seat.

On the practical side, in addition to endless trunk space, the electric Escalade offers an “eTrunk” built under the front hood with a claimed capacity 340 litersthat is, the total carrying capacity of individual city cars.

XXL battery

Mechanically, the Escalade IQ is equipped with intelligent eAWD all-wheel drive and Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 shock absorbers. Added to this is the Adaptive Air Ride suspension, which can lower the car by 50mm or raise it by 25mm depending on the driving mode or in certain situations (for example, to facilitate access to the cabin or improve access to the chest). The Escalade IQ features rear-wheel steering to maximize maneuverability.

The battery is terrible, with a capacity of 200 kWh Range of 720 km advertised for one charge. The 800-volt architecture reduces charging time, with the ability to get 160 km of range in about 10 minutes by connecting to an ultra-fast charging station. Two electric motors develop a trifle 750 hp and 1064 Nm in the sportiest driving mode called “Velocity Max”. Thus, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes less than five seconds.

Finally, there are numerous driver assistance systems, including Super Cruise technology, third-level autonomous driving system which uses sensors, radar and LiDAR for autonomous navigation. This technology has been tested on more than 600,000 km of Canadian roads.
