Germany is the European country with the largest number of plants producing cars, engines and batteries, while Russia has the most plants producing buses and trucks. How many large car factories are there in Europe? Which countries are the best? What is Romania’s rating?

ACEA (Association of European Automobile Manufacturers) has published an analysis of the total number of automotive plants that produce cars, commercial vehicles, buses, engines and car batteries in Europe.

There are more than 300 factories on the continent, most of them in Germany (54), Great Britain (36), Russia (32), France (31 factories), Italy (23), Poland (19). Romania has six plants in the mentioned sections.

Data DOES NOT include factories for various components, of which there are thousands in Europe.

Which countries have the most car factories? Germany has 24 factories, Great Britain – 19, Russia – 13 and France – 12 factories. There are two large factories in Romania: Dacia and Ford.

If we talk about the production of engines for both conventional and electric cars, there are 14 of them in Germany, 8 in Great Britain, and seven engine plants each in Italy and Poland.

As for buses, there are nine factories in Russia, seven in Turkey and France.

Germany ranks first in the production of minibuses with ten plants, Turkey has seven production facilities and Russia has six. Russia has the most truck factories – nine, Turkey – five.

As for car batteries, there are 12 plants in Germany, five in France, and three in Spain.
