Disney CEO Bob Iger made some big announcements during his latest conference call with investors. Among other things, he announced the launch of an ad-supported version of Disney+ in Europe.

An ad-supported version of Disney+ will launch in Europe in November, where it will be available in eight countries. Like the premium version, it looks like the European expansion will happen in several “waves”.

Disney+ with ads will cost €6 in France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Norway, Sweden and Denmark, countries that will be part of the first wave of European expansion.

In turn, Disney+ wants to force users who have one account and are not related to each other or do not live at the same address to pay individual subscriptions.

It was clear that the trend opened by Netflix in this direction will be followed by other streaming video services, and Disney+ will be at the forefront, following them in terms of prices and volume of content.

Moreover, there will be a new wave of price increases, which will start in the USA on October 12. Disney+ and Hulu will each increase in price by $3 and will eventually cost $14 and $18 respectively per month.

Disney+ gained 105.7 million subscribers after managing to attract 800,000 new subscribers, a growth of just 1%.
