Russia said on Monday it had produced more ammunition in one month than in all of 2022, and that it had ramped up production of military weapons in the 17th month of its offensive in Ukraine.

“Since the beginning of the year, many types of weapons and special military equipment have been produced in a much larger volume than last year,” said Russian Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Denis Manturov, quoted by Russian press agencies, AFP and Agerpres reported.

“In terms of ammunition, we are already reaching the level where deliveries in one month exceed the total orders of last year,” added Manturov, who is also the Minister of Industry.

The conflict in Ukraine leads to a large consumption of ammunition and equipment in both camps, AFP notes. If Russia has mobilized its defense industry, Ukraine, in turn, receives important military aid from the West.

Last week, the adviser to the President of Ukraine Mykhailo Podolyak told France Presse that Kyiv uses “from 5,000 to 10,000 shells of the same type” every day.
