UTA – CFR Cluj 1-3, in the second stage of the Super League

The match between UTA and CFR Cluj, played in Arad in torrential rain, offered an impressive first half.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 29th minute thanks to Godberg Cooper, who made a great shot from the penalty area straight into Sava’s goal.

Only two minutes later, CFR managed to equalize thanks to Daniel Birlighea, who recovered a pass from the goal of Jefte Betancourt.

In the 34th minute, the team coached by Andrea Mandorlini were awarded a penalty after Katalin Karp brought down Birlighea in the box.

However, Betancourt’s penalty kick was denied by goalkeeper Florin Jakob, who saved his second successive penalty.

Just one minute later, Transylvania took the lead after an unlucky Katalin Karp scored again into her own net from a corner kick.

The second half, however, was much poorer in goal-scoring phases, on a water-soaked field that made it difficult for the two teams to pass.

Mircea Rednich’s team did not equalise, instead the ex-champion of Romania withdrew in the 85th minute thanks to Emmanuel Yeboa.

After two stages, ChFR Cluj is in first place in the Super League standings and in the next round awaits a match with the University of Craiova.
