Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi thanked the United States for new $1.3 billion in military aid on Wednesday, hailing Washington’s “unwavering support,” AFP reported.
This aid “will save the lives of Ukrainians and bring us closer to joint victory,” Zelenskyy wrote on Twitter. “We appreciate the unwavering support of the friendly American people,” he added.
The United States has announced additional security assistance to Ukraine after providing the country with cluster munitions earlier this month.
The latest package will be $1.3 billion and will include air defense equipment and ammunition.
“This announcement marks the beginning of the contracting process to provide additional priority opportunities to Ukraine,” the Pentagon said.
