Austrian Felix Gall (AG2R Citroen Team) won on Wednesday the royal stage (17th) of the Tour de France, contested between Saint-Gervais-Mont-Blanc and Courchevel (166 kilometers). Jonas Wingegaard was fourth and led the general classification after a day in which Tadej Pohakar was only 22nd.
British Simon Yates (Team Jayco Alula) and Iberian Pello Bilbao Lopez (Bahrain Victorious) completed the podium.
Wingegaard beat Pogacar by another 5 minutes and 45 seconds on Wednesday, and only a crash can stop the Dane on his way to another Big Loop title.
