The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine wants to restore the Kakhovskaya HPP in two years, despite the fact that experts previously said that the minimum period of reconstruction would be 5-7 years, reports Ukrainian Pravda.

“Today, the government passed a resolution on an experimental project to start the reconstruction of the Kakhovskaya thermal power plant blown up by the Russians. The project is designed for two years,” said Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmigal.

What will be the stages of the reconstruction of the HPP

According to him, at the first stage, a project of engineering structures will be developed, and then the necessary foundation for restoration will be prepared.

The second stage will begin after the release of the territories where the hydroelectric power plant is located, and will involve actual construction work.

The Ministry of Economy will coordinate the project, and the final customer will be Ukrhydroenergo.

Ukrhydroenergo, which previously set completely different terms for the reconstruction of Kakhovskaya CHP, only reprinted the message of Denys Shmigal.

It will be recalled that the huge Kakhovskaya dam and the adjacent hydroelectric power station were destroyed in early June, and the explosion of the dam caused a flood that led to several deaths.

NORSAR, Norway’s nuclear test ban monitoring organization, said seismic signals indicated an explosion at the Nova Kakhovka dam at 02:54 a.m. on June 6, making it highly likely that kinetic action was used to collapse the dam, War Translated reported. .

A photo taken by a Ukrainian drone on May 28 showing a car apparently loaded with explosives parked on the Kakhovka Dam will provide further evidence that Russia is behind the destruction of the hydroelectric plant.

The Internal Security Service of Ukraine also said it had intercepted a phone call proving that Russian forces blew up the Kakhovka hydroelectric plant and dam in the Kherson region of southern Ukraine.

The director of the dam operator Ihor Syrota said in June that the reconstruction of the Kakhovskaya dam may last at least five years and will cost a billion euros.

According to some initial estimates, “it will take at least five years and one billion euros to build a new power plant,” according to this statement published by the Kyiv Independent, cited by news.ro.
