Russian air defense forces and the Black Sea Fleet intercepted nine Ukrainian drones over the Crimean port of Sevastopol on Sunday morning, an official in Moscow said, according to The Guardian.
“Not a single target was damaged either in the city or in the water area,” said Sevastopol Governor Mykhailo Razvozhaev.
Two drones were shot down over the sea, five were intercepted by Russia’s electronic warfare equipment, two surface drones were destroyed on the outer shore, Razvozhaev added.
The strikes took place over the port of Sevastopol and the Balaklava and Chersonese districts of the city.
Shipping, including passenger ferries, was suspended for several hours Sunday morning, authorities said.
Ukraine has not commented on the attack on the Crimean peninsula, which Russia annexed from Ukraine in 2014.
