The Archdiocese of Tomis announced in a press release on Friday that a day ago it submitted a request to the Constanta Court for a temporary suspension of the enforcement proceedings in the case of the church “Izvorul Tămăduirii” in the Makul Rosu area, file 18297 /212/2023.

Also at that time, the Archdiocese also filed a request to appeal the execution, also to the Court of Constanta, using a different appeal, for the same church, this concerns case 18398/322/2023.

“Today, July 14, 2023, the Court of Constanta quickly responded to the request for a temporary suspension submitted by the Archdiocese of Tomis and decided to accept this request, as well as the temporary suspension of execution, according to the decision published on the court’s portal. : “Accept the request for temporary suspension. Orders the temporary suspension of enforcement proceedings in enforcement case No. 234/2022 BEJ Beciu Stelian, until the request for suspension of enforcement formulated in case no. 18398/212/2023 of the Court of Constanta. In December 2021, a court decided to demolish a church in the municipality of Konstanz that was built without a permit, and according to the decision, which remained final, Konstanz City Hall had to demolish the building within 90 days. The original deadline was March 14, 2022, but it was extended.

At the time, the Archdiocese of Tomis announced that it was in dialogue with the city hall to find a solution, noting that the municipality “does not want to associate its name with such demolition.”

In February 2022, the mayor of Konstanz, Virgil Citzak, sent an open letter to Archbishop Tomis, in which he told him that failure to implement this decision and delay in adopting the law could lead to “degradation of the image of the Church as an institution and aggravation of relations between the monks and the rest of the citizens of this city.”

The court made a similar decision on the temporary suspension of demolition in June 2022.
