Wimbledon will have a new champion after Olena Rybakina lost in the quarters to Ons Jaber, the player whom the Kazakh beat in last year’s final.

The match on the Central Court lasted almost two hours, the athlete from Tunisia won it with the score (5) 6-7, 6-4, 6-1.

Somewhat surprisingly, given that Rybakina (the No. 3 seed) usually dictates the tempo in her matches, Ons was the more aggressive player in this match.

The sixth racket of the world hit 35 winning shots (21 for Elena) and made fewer mistakes than her opponent (18-20).

Zhaber again pleased the audience with spectacular performances (she worked perfectly at the goal), and Rybakinia did not manage to create as many problems with serves as usual (Ons also led in aces: 8-7).

After some good service games early in the match, both players broke for 0. Ons dropped a set point at 6-5 (she was serving) and Olena won the tiebreak (7-5).

In the second set, both players went head-to-head, both saved several break points, but Ons forced at the right moment to take the match to a decider.

At the beginning of the third start, Rybakina looked confused, could not find an answer to her opponent’s blows, and Zhaber broke free. Olena gave the impression that she might make a comeback, but she missed two break points at 3-1 and Ons could not be stopped in the following games.
