But this measure is not the only innovation related to driver’s licenses, as the draft law is aimed at this reshape the famous exam has just been passed by parliament. Let’s summarize main measures aimed at facilitating the passing of the driver’s license exam.
Driving licences: measures aimed at young drivers
Among various activitiesassistance of €500 to fund youth learner driving licenses will also be extended to vocational high school students. IARSR (School Road Safety Certificate) should also be changed to better prepare young high school students for the rules of the road.
The government is also considering the issue of organization high school traffic rules course, to improve success in the theory exam. In addition, from this month of July 2023 a a new version of exam questions on traffic rules will appear to improve the understanding and readability of the questions.
To facilitate access to driving licenses for the youngest, a new website called “1 young person, 1 permit” will be created by Pôle Emploi: it will allow young candidates learn about financing schemes as well as assistance that allows them to finance their permit. Indeed, in France there are hundreds of funding mechanisms at municipal, departmental or national level, but applicants are not sufficiently informed about the different possibilities available to them.
Driver’s license: before reducing the age to 16?

The aim is to bring the waiting time to a maximum of 45 days, while today sometimes long months have to be waited.
As of January 1, 2024, the legal age for passing the driver’s license and independent driving test will be lowered to 17 years. But the Government does not want to stop there, but wants to reduce this age to 16 years ! However, this possibility is still being studied by the legislature and an effective date has not yet been determined.
