The Spaniard played at least 545 matches for Manchester United. He has won the Premier League (2013), Europa League (2017), FA Cup (2016), FA League Cup (2017, 2023) and FA Super Cup (2012, 2014 and 2017).

“I just wanted to send this farewell message to all Manchester United fans. I would like to express my unwavering gratitude and appreciation for the love of the past 12 years. I have achieved a lot since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club.

I was incredibly proud every time I wore this shirt, I was representing the biggest club in the world and it was an honor that only a lucky few footballers have.

It has been an unforgettable and successful time since I came here. I did not think that when I left Madrid when I was a child, I would be able to achieve something like this. Now is the right time to accept a new challenge, to renew yourself in a new environment.
