Budai announced that he would dismiss, as requested by Prime Minister Marcel Čolaka, the president of the National Agency for Protection and Social Inspection, Kristina Anton, and the president of the National Authority for the Protection of the Rights of People with Disabilities, Mihai Tomescu.

He argued that the Ministry of Labor through its subordinate agencies cannot close down such centers but only provides information to the DGASPCs, agencies subordinate to the county councils.

Revocation of authority

The National Agency for Payments and Social Inspection (NAPIS) has started legal proceedings regarding the cancellation of the accreditation of the centers of care and assistance for smokers and volunteers “St. Gavriil the Brave”, where elderly people were kept in incredible conditions, starving and without medical care, with wounds to the bones and feces.

The Ministry of Labor announced on Wednesday that, based on public information related to the criminal investigation launched into the Care and Assistance Center in Voluntara and the Care and Assistance Center in Afumaka, both owned by St. Gabriel the Brave, Association of National Rights Protection Authority of people with disabilities sent an appeal to ANPIS with a proposal to revoke the license for the two centers.

In the same appeal, the National Authority for the Protection of the Rights of People with Disabilities asked to suspend the licensing process and cancel the license for the Center for the Care and Assistance of Smokers.

According to the cited source, ANPIS has initiated legal proceedings to revoke the accreditation of two social services provided by “St. Gabriel the Brave”.

Two public institutions, investigated

The research showed that from 2021 until now, two state public institutions responsible for the field of social assistance and child protection concluded several contracts with an association that did not have a license to operate, on the provision of social services in a hospital for adults. recognized as disabled, in violation of the provisions of Law no. 98/2016 on public procurement, causing losses to the own budget in the amount of more than 3.5 million lei.
