The Las Vegas Gazette reported Thursday that police responded to the altercation to investigate a possible assault. The newspaper reported that the police have made a report, but have not made any arrests and are not treating the case as a criminal case.

In a social media post, Spears said the incident was a “traumatic experience” that she was unprepared for.

Spears says she saw the 19-year-old basketball player and wanted to go up to him to congratulate him on his success.

“There was a lot of noise, so I tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention,” Spears said.

Vembanyama said he “didn’t see what happened” but someone grabbed him from behind rather than just patting him on the shoulder.

“I just know security pushed her. I don’t know how hard, but the guards pushed her away. I didn’t stop to go inside and enjoy a delicious dinner.”
