Two police officers from the IPJ of Iași, who were intimidated by CSM vice-president Daniel Horodnicanu because they stopped him on the road, were questioned by prosecutors on Thursday, Libertatea reported.

Marian Godine reported that two policemen are subject to investigation, the information is confirmed by the prosecutor’s office at the Iași Court of Appeal of Freedom.

According to the representatives of the institution, on Thursday the police officers were heard as witnesses by the prosecutors of the prosecutor’s office of the Iasi Court of Appeal.

The investigation was initially conducted by the Prosecutor’s Office at the Iași Court, but the case was transferred to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Iași Court of Appeal, said prosecutor Radu-Catalin Shoku, PT Iași spokesman.

“At the moment, the case is under investigation in rem (relating to a crime – not) and the two police officers do not have the status of suspects,” prosecutor Adina Botsai, spokesperson for the PCA of Iasi, was quoted as saying. from Libertatea.

Prosecutor Daniel Horodničana, vice-president of the High Council of Magistracy (CSM) and former head of DIICOT, was sent to a disciplinary hearing by the Judicial Inspectorate.

The department reported that the disciplinary penalty was sent to the prosecutors’ disciplinary responsibility department of the High Council of Magistracy, which will decide on the penalty against the prosecutor.

It will be recalled that in May, the prosecutor was stopped on the road by Iasi policemen, after which he asked them if they knew who he was, and also threatened to contact the Iasi police chief.

In a video released in the public domain, Daniel Horodnichanu is visibly disturbed by being stopped in traffic, asking one of the police officers if they know he is “Horodnichanu’s chief prosecutor for organized crime.” The policeman said that he did not know him, Horodnichanu asked him: “Why don’t you know me?”.

Horodnicanu was stopped on the road in the county of Iasi for overtaking without a proper signal and for driving at a speed exceeding the speed limit. The policeman replied that he was not fining him, but only demanding documents and wanted to draw his attention to the mistakes made on the road.

“I’m going to talk to the head of the IPJ,” Daniel Horodnicanu warned the policeman. Horodnichanu also said that he has been working as a prosecutor for 25 years and that he is known by all the police officers of Iasi County.

At the same time, Daniel Horodnicanu reminded the policeman that in 2016 he talked with former minister Gabriel Oprya so that policemen would receive 15% more salary.
