The general mayor of the capital, Nikushor Dan, published on Wednesday evening an image of the deteriorating condition of the heating galleries and stated that ensuring the safety of the construction sites was extending the duration of the works.

“Dear citizens of Bucharest, in the video below you can see the access point in the heating gallery on Mihai Bravo Road. This is just an example of the situations faced by employees of the municipal thermal power company when they have to go underground to repair the damage,” Nikushor Dan wrote on Facebook on Wednesday evening, posting the image.

Genmer clarifies that this is one of the reasons for the extension of the deadlines for the completion of works and, implicitly, the postponement of the deadlines.

“More than half of the main pipelines in the municipality of Bucharest have been in operation for almost 50 years, and in the case of work, we cannot refer only to pipes, welds or interventions for opening, being involved in more complex infrastructure works. All this involves the necessary safety measures to prevent damage to the gallery and the safety of our colleagues who have to work in these conditions and perform many manual operations, as machines rarely have access to the heated galleries,” the mayor said. added

He understands that these operations require time and cannot always be predicted when setting the deadline for works, especially repairs.

“That’s why the approximate terms are sometimes extended. In addition to the repair works carried out by “Termoenergetika”, the city hall through “Compania Energetica Servicii” and private companies also carries out work on the modernization of the heating system,” said Nikusor Dan.

Approximately 600 blocks in all sectors of the capital have been left without hot water since Monday, as Compania Municipală Termoenergetica Bucureşti (CMTEB) SA is replacing and repairing pipes in the primary network, News.ro reports.
