Prime Minister Marcel Çolaku said that if the law on special pensions does not pass the Constitutional Court, an extraordinary session of the parliament for this law will be organized in August, reports News.ro.
“Even if it does not pass the Constitutional Court, I made a whole calendar for deputy groups and explained to my colleagues that an extraordinary session will be needed, I think, in August. We all know that there is a period when the Court is also on vacation. We will see the terms given by the court,” said Marcel Cholaku on Antena 3.
The Prime Minister explained that he has the constitutional right to address the KKR on this issue.
“I have the constitutional right to go to the Constitutional Court because this is such an important thing for Romania to reform so that we can claim payment number three. I will take this step so that the deadline is faster, so that in August, at the beginning of August, if necessary, if the court deems it necessary to hold an extraordinary session, to postpone what the court decides,” he said. little boy
On July 26, the Constitutional Court will discuss the appeal of the Supreme Court of Cassation (SCC) regarding changes to the law on long-term pensions and to the law on calculating pensions with wages.
Law on abolition of special pensions passed by parliament / PSD and PNL amendments: reform delayed for 5 years and will be completed in 2043 / Tax only 15%, not 30% as originally announced
Last week, the parliament adopted the draft law on the abolition of special pensions contested by the Higher Council of Magistracy.
The draft law has undergone changes compared to the version adopted by the government and agreed with European officials. More precisely, PSD and PNL parliamentarians introduced derogations and exceptions that postpone the application of the reform for the next 5 years and extend the abolition of special pensions for 20 years. The UDR refused to vote for the bill, saying it did not abolish any special pensions.
Parliamentarians from the PSD and the PNL made changes in the relevant committees to the draft law regulating the status of special pensions, compared to the version presented by the government. Thus, according to the new amendments, prosecutors and judges can retire until 2028 under the same conditions as before, that is, regardless of age, with 25 years of experience and a pension in the amount of 80% of the gross allowance and allowances for the last month of activity .
In particular, the amendment establishes a five-year grace period for special pensioners.
For other categories of special pensioners and military pensioners for the next five years, the same conditions of retirement, which are provided by the current legislation, apply.
The initiators of the amendment are parliamentarians PSD and PNL, who argued that this provision is necessary “to support the activity of those who will meet the conditions of retirement, without destabilizing the social system by the retirement of a very large number of workers.”

Another change compared to the anticipated and announced version is that only 15% of special pensions above 4,000 lei net will be taxed, instead of 30% as originally announced.
Next year, the retirement age will be gradually increased: from 50 years in 2024 to 60 years in 2035.
