Football is constantly changing, and since the introduction of VAR, more pundits have complained about fewer goals, but the new measure could change that.

What will the new offside rule look like?

Former legendary coach of London Arsenal, Frenchman Arsene Wenger, who currently holds a senior position in FIFA’s global development department, made an original proposal, writes The Sun.

The Football Forum is discussing a change to the offside rule, which currently requires an attacking player to be offside with any part of their body.

However, Wenger’s proposal brings major changes, and in future, to signal offside, the whole body of the attacker will have to be behind the last defender of the opponent, outside the goalkeeper.

FIFA will begin testing the new rule during matches in the Netherlands, Italy and Sweden, and if the results are satisfactory, full implementation will follow.

The main gains will be speedy forwards who will get a lot of help, while slower defenders will no longer be able to rely entirely on positioning during matches.
