
The number of recipients of social assistance (guaranteed minimum income) in May 2023 was 163,192, which is 1,807 fewer than in the previous month, according to centralized data from the National Agency for Payments and Social Inspection (ANPIS) and cited by Agerpres.
The most beneficiaries were registered in the counties of Dolj (10,351), Bacău (9,245), Teleorman (686) and Buzău (7,595), and the least in Bucharest (243) and in the counties of Ilfov (852) and Timișoara (1,354). ).
The average amount paid in March by the Romanian state to recipients of social assistance was 302.88 lei, and the total amount paid was 49.427 million lei.
The highest value of the average amount paid (current rights) was recorded in the counties of Salaj (398.20 lei), Brasov (365.69 lei) and Mures (365.3 lei).
The Guaranteed Minimum Income (GMI) is one of the most important programs for promoting social inclusion and fighting poverty. The regulatory act governing this program is Law No. 416/2001 on Guaranteed Minimum Income, as amended.
According to this Law, the minimum guaranteed income is ensured by assigning monthly social assistance, which is calculated as the difference between the amount of the guaranteed minimum income provided by law and the monthly net income of a family or a single person.
