
The pair consisting of Monica Niculescu and Japanese Eri Hozumi was defeated in the doubles final of the “WTA 250” tournament in Bad Homburg (Germany).
Monica and Eri were defeated by Lidia Morozova/Ingrid Gamarra Martins (Belarus/Brazil), 6-0, 7-6(3). The match lasted one hour and 26 minutes.
The final started on Saturday, but was interrupted when Lydia and Ingrid were leading 3-0 and 40-30 in the first set due to rain.
For the trip from Bad Homburg, Niculescu and Hozumi received a check for $6,090 and 180 points in the WTA doubles ranking.
To her credit, Monica Niculescu has 32 WTA finals in doubles, but won only 10 (the last in 2021 in Nur-Sultan together with Anna-Lena Frids).
