For the Dutch driver, this is the sixth pole position of the season, the fourth in a row, reaching the 26th of his career.
In 2023, Verstappen won six races: Bahrain, Australia, Miami, Monaco, Spain and Canada.
In Friday’s qualifying, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, both from Ferrari, filled the podium.
Verstappen’s RedBull teammate Sergio Perez finished only 15th.
The Austrian Grand Prix, the ninth stage of the current Formula 1 season, will take place on Sunday at 16:00 at the Spielberg circuit.
