In the most interesting match of the 24th round of the Premier Division, Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers meet, both teams occupy a place in the European places zone.

Dundalk are fourth on 36 points, ten adrift of leaders Shamrock Rovers and three adrift of Derry City and St. Patrick’s Athletic (the champion goes to the preliminary round of the Champions League, and 2-3 places – to the preliminary round of the Conference League).

The team, coached by Stephen O’Donnell (he played the last five years of his career at Dundalk, having joined directly from Shamrock Rovers), come off the back of three wins, a draw and a loss in their last five league matches, and at the previous stage they turned to their own land from St. Patrick’s Athletic, score 1-1.

Dundalk have won the title 14 times (most recently in 2019, since then there have been three championships won by Shamrock Rovers) and the cup 12 times (most recently in 2017) in Ireland, with only notable results at continental level come in recent years, through two qualifications in the Europa League groups (2016-2017 and 2020-2021).

Shamrock Rovers are in 1st place with 46 points after four wins and a draw in their last five league matches and they beat Derry City 1-0 at home in the previous round.

Since 2016, the team has been coached by its former footballer Steven Bradley, with whom he won three titles and the Irish Cup (as a player he won the championship with Drogheda United in 2017 and with Shamrock Rovers in 2010).

Shamrock Rovers are the most successful team in Ireland with 20 league titles under their belt, the last three coming in a row in 2020, 2021 and 2022 (the ten-team league is played on a spring-autumn, two-round, two-leg system) and 25 national cups!

It will be interesting to see how Shamrock Rovers cope with the games in this Championship final, as it will soon also enter the fire of the European Cups, along with the previous stage of the Champions League.

In Europe, the greatest indicators of the team from Tallaght (the largest satellite city of the capital Dublin with a population of 80,000 inhabitants) are participation in the groups of the Europa League (2011-2012) and the Conference League (2022-2023), respectively.

These two teams have already met twice this season in the Championship, with Shamrock Rovers winning 4-0 away (March 30) and 2-0 at home (June 2) on each occasion.

Superbet offers odds of 1.25 on the prediction X2: a draw or a win for the visitors in the match Dundalk – Shamrock Rovers.
