Feliciano Lopez retired from professional tennis at the age of 41
López lost to Yannick Hanfmann 2-6, 4-6 in a quarterfinal match at Spain’s ATP 250 tournament.
Feliciano said goodbye to tennis after 26 seasons on the world circuit.
“I was a different player without even trying because of my personality as a player, my style and my serve. But I didn’t train to have that style of tennis.
I grew up like most Spaniards. I trained at Barcelona, but naturally I decided to be a different type of player.
I am very proud of the fact that I managed not to miss a single major tournament in 20 years, and that I left a good impression on my colleagues and people I spent time with” – Feliciano Lopez.
Know:
- Lopez holds the record of 79 consecutive Grand Slam appearances.
- During his career, Feliciano won 7 ATP singles titles and 6 doubles titles (including Roland Garros in 2016).
- He still has four Davis Cup trophies with Spain on his resume.

- He collected $18,673,797 (singles+doubles) in his career only from tennis prizes.
